Curiosity Kills the Cat - Possibly My Computer Too

I find some things just way too tempting for my own good.

I don’t know if it’s how tired I am just now, or the fact that I’m pretty sure my eyes won’t function properly enough to read another word typed and I’m not thinking clearly; but curiosity is about to kill me or rather, my computer.
As I always do before I leave the office for the day, I checked my other email accounts. There’s something deliciously fishy about an email that I’m pretty sure I shouldn’t open; but can’t seem to fight that craving off. I can’t delete the thing; because by this time tomorrow curiosity may win and I’ll decide to infect this laptop with a virus just to find out what’s inside this damn thing; or perhaps who it’s from.

Tell me, would I have to be nuts to open this email? Even more importantly was it YOU who sent me this email?

a 6kb image is not going to be anything exciting; my advice to you is to delete it.

Normally you can open e-mails but the attachments are the ones that cause the trouble.

So if I were you, I'd open the mail but be careful about opening the attachment.

That way, you win over half the curiousity atleast :)

The e-mail is not a photo. It is a variant of a computer worm called W32/Brontok.

This worm generally exhibits the following behavior:

Turns off anti-virus applications,
Sends itself to email addresses found on the infected computer,
Forges the sender's email address,
Uses its own SMTP MTA engine.

This email is 'malware' and should be deleted immediately. Running the attachment 'photo' will get your computer infected and you will see no interesting picture.

Conclusion:
Don't do it.

If you have a good Antivirus program, or a good email which scans it before you can download, then sure, go for it! If not, a 6k file isn't gonna be much anyway. But like you and Sara, I'm Aries, so I know what it's like. It's gonna bug you until you open it sweetie, so do it! ;)

Ummm…. As much as I appreciate all your opinions and even the virus jokes… UC, Foghorn… I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE… That anon up there signed F is someone I KNOW I can trust, and I KNOW knows what he’s talking about... and though it kills me to let something so intriguing go; he’s let me know exactly what it is, so intrigue and mystery has died.

Thank you guys. And f, I knew if you were ever going to comment again, it’d be on this one. See how manipulative I am at pulling you in? Umwah!

And Silver Sara… You probably know me better than anyone else here, but you missed that I’m a Pisces? LOL! They’re both water signs. It’s GREAT to have you and your secret is safe. I’ll peek at your blog soon.
