UAE Government Does NOTHING Good You Can See?
How many of you Pro-UAE-Expatriate-Bloggers-Who-Only-Bitch-To-Make-Things-Better-&-Do-Claim-to-Note-the-Good-Here bothered to comment on or even take note of this:
UAE rescue team arrives in Indonesia
posted on 30/05/2006
Solo - A UAE search and rescue team arrived here yesterday to assist in the on-going search and rescue operations for the victims of the devastating earthquake that has hit the Indonesian island of Java. Headed by Colonel Khalid Abdul Latif Al Dousary, Head of Ambulance and Rescue Unit of the Abu Dhabi Police, the team was dispatched on the orders of UAE President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE team is the first Arab and the second international team to offer support along with the Japanese team. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)

Wadda ya know? It’s not just throwing around money to flaunt their mass amounts! But actual hands on, people-helping-people charity!
UAE’s the first Arab, and second internationally behind Japan to show charity; offer support; etc. I suppose Bush and his mates are too damn busy plotting their Iranian strategy, or masking their failure over, while pretending to reestablish New Orleans to possibly put a rush on saving the lives of others.
Please don’t give me distance bullshit when defending the #1 Super Power for being a little late in offering help here. Fedex can deliver a package in approximately 48 hours. I’m pretty sure rescue deserves a quicker response than a damn package.
Please STOP and see the GOOD the UAE does, not only for its own people, but also for the bitching expatriates homed here and internationally.
Maybe if the rest of you west illuminating bunch didn’t continually worship the way you do, I wouldn’t have to make such an exaggerated-dramatic-scene about the faults to get the fucking point across about how much GOOD there really is here.

hala tainted, how wonderful of you to highlight this news for the rest of us who hardly ever get to hear such things and wonder "why muslim nations with money seldom are at the forefront of charity work".
Very comforting. Hope many more countries catch on.
bullshit
even if u do help there is no need to bloe your own horn
the first team to arrive in pakistan earthquake was the Mercy Corps and you wouldnt find news of them in any daily.
its because the dont give a damn about recognition from any body but as soon as UAE or any of its ministries does something to help others you see it splashed on the main page
Well done...your royal highness...Vote Tainted for the First Lady President of UAE!!!!!!!!!!!
It is good to see some good humanitarian news originating from here. Makes a change from the "Locals throw kittens from moving car" type notices.
karachidude, bullshit back at yah!
Mercy Corps? Hello .. You think they're doing it out of the goodness in their hearts ?
Oh my god .. Mercy is short for mercinary .. bible in one hand and food in the other .. I have nothing against their activities .. my own uncle works for one in far away Asia .. but don't knock people's efforts .. just cuz u got a chip on your shoulder ..
I understand people speaking freely and no to censorship and all that but don't go calling some news like this bullshit .. and tainted isn't blowing her own horn .. she's canadian .. shes' blowing the horn for someone else ..
Humanitarian is just that .. and I'm sure they aren't going around saying things like Mohammed is your saviour join us and we will shelter you and feed you
and why would they advertise the mercy corps efforts in a uae newspaper anyways .. whats it to them ..
you're a jerk .
@ UC redirected
@ babykaos
hey I dont have anything against TF or anyone else for that matter and as for having a chip on my shoulder its a big one and maybe if u go and have a look at the "subcons" once in a while you will understand it. i have been living here for 7 years and i have seen people go bankrupt because of the laws of the UAE. A local and an uncle of mine opened a resteraunt together it flourished and bam before u know it my unle is back in pakistan with a one year ban and the local hal 100% claim to the buisness and when he appealed in the courts and everything they could not do anything because the local in question was very high up in the ministries.
i havent got a personal vandetta againdt UAE or anything but its just that the way i have seen people suffering and being exploited is really shattering and if this country can think that just by helping people in disasters(which is very good and all) they can make up for everything, the cant
now with you presenting this as an argument .. one can understand and sympathize with you .. but starting your rant off with bullshit .. just isn't cool.
anyhow .. whatever humanitarian efforts are put forward are good .. true it doesn't wipe out the bad .. but at least someone did something for somebody other themselves..
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle .. things have a way of working out for the best most of the time .. chin up and drop the chip .. you'll live happier
ahem...
ummm, thank you karachidude, for completely misunderstanding the point I was making or who this post was directed to. If you didn’t note the last sentence there, this exaggerated expectation (the US should ALWAYS be first), was simply meant to point out that there’s a HELL of A LOT more GOOD in the UAE government than the majority of bloggers would like the international society to see and/or think.
As for people going bankrupt because of the laws… LEAVE and make your millions in your own country; if it offers the same possibility of a prosperous future as the UAE does. (Oh wait… your country doesn’t offer the same chances? You mean there IS something better here than back home?) I wonder what the ratio of is who immigrants have made a better living here than we could in our own countries compared to those who went bankrupt?
Christ. It’s the constant bitching and complaining that gets to me and makes me write such entries. THERE IS GOOD HERE; in most of our cases, a HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN THERE IS BACK HOME (thus the reason we stay).
And kaos… we NEED to get together and have a coffee or something… though, I will tease you for the matching shoes and bags (as I do all my Lebanese girlfriends).
well karachidude, one person's bitter experiences cannot be stereotyped for the entire expat population's ...right?
as for the topic, it kicks ass. thank you for highlighting! everyone comes together to bitch but usually it's the goodness that goes overlooked.
and khi dude, this is an international relief effort, not some donations to a local charity. this is exactly ONE of the reasons why this should be appreciated.
Tainted .. I'm all for it .. gimme personal email addy and I'll email you my digits ..
but be forewarned .. my shoes and handbags only match in color on occasion .. so you got nothing left to tease me about :D
I can't wait! *giggling like a school girl again*
Ummwah to you Tainted...
