Talking Out of Ass as Facts Again…

In reference to a comment made here, I checked into the legal age limit for marriage in the UAE.

I called up one of my lawyers (and after spending three years in Ras Al Khaimah Court in a criminal case, and another 3 in Dubai Court for divorce, I HAVE A LOT OF THEM) and asked him if the family law in the UAE had a minimum age limit. Keep in mind it’s now 8.30pm; he’s at home and he’s not got the damn books in front of him so I can’t give you the law reference number just yet, but I will make it very clear that it’s actually illegal to marry before you’re 18-years-old here, despite what other’s would make you believe.

Wish to argue this law exists; contact local advocates, thank you very much. I did. And for future reference, I’ve asked him to look into getting an English translation of criminal & family law books; since I’ve already got the labor one. I’m sick and tired of the bullshit people would like the rest of the world to believe.

I really wish people would stop talking out of their asses as if what they had to say was fact. You make shit up, and then believe it. No wonder you feel this is such a shitty place to be. I’d hate to live in your fantasy as well.

I admire the lengths to which you went to obtain the facts surrounding the legal age of marriage, calling your lawyer at home. However, I personally know two fellows who married girls under the age of sixteen. Whether or not it was a legal marriage is something I am not privy to, therefore I will not comment about that particular point. There may well have been mitigating factors involved, and once again I will not comment on why the union took place. You missed my point, which was that the title of marriage doesn't, in my opinion, legitimise the sexual relationships between vulnerable, young girls and much older men. I am not saying that the situation in Canada is any better, but it is certainly different.

People will break the damn laws everywhere. You can not blame the country because of it. You can blame a country that condones child sex.

You're pretty stubborn, aren't you? Your first comment was irrelevant to the post... and you continue to argue it with things you will not tell.

Oh and another thing, legal arguments are all well and good but in the UAE, too many infringements are ignored, unfortunately. And I have noticed that you do not subscribe to this point of view, but then you are in a unique situation, compared to most other expats.

LOL!

You've got to be kidding?! Seriously hun, read the rest of what I've said in all the other posts concerning that.

I've already expressed the fact that this country is pretty slack on laws and a lot of things need to be changed... but I ALSO know that change takes time and I don't expect a miracle of it happening over night. There's where the difference actually stands.

Cheers.

I really must say that I do understand your viewpoint. But, think about this, why criminalise something that is bound to happen anyway? I mean, it helps nobody having a segregated system like KSA, which I know is an extreme case of 'no sex before marriage'. Also, in the West, with the prevailing winds of a falling birth rate and the low pressure system of an ageing population looming over the horizon, we need more babies. The middle classes are too busy to produce them, so we need little babies born to teenage mothers to pay our pensions in the future. It's a stealthy Government tactic - and Gordon's laughing all the way to the bank.

When you have kids, let's see if you teach them to say no to drugs, no to teenaged sex, no to nights-out in crack whore towns...

Chen speak about why create rules or laws that will be broken.
